The World Poker Association (WPA) has launched an ethics code designed to maintain basic standards in poker tournaments.
Membership of the WPA is dependent on the adoption of the five-section code which complements an ethics compliance pledge.
WPA members are asked to uphold the highest standards of ethical conduct in all aspects of poker competition and tournament activities.
The code covers topics such as correct relationships among players, relationships between players and dealers and the banning of collusion at the tables.
Wendeen Eolis, vice chair of the WPA, said: "The ethics code is the cornerstone on which the WPA has established itself as a single, unified voice for millions in the commitment to professionalism in the worldwide poker community."
A non-profit organisation, the WPA was established to promote professionalism in poker around the world and to unite all tournament poker entities.
