Cash poker tournament record "smashed" in July

2007-08-13 15:21:42

PokerStars.com has announced that it recently smashed the world's largest cash poker tournament.

On July 29th, the Sunday Hundred Grand tournament drew a field of 20,000 online poker players.

The first place finisher, known as Lynna1, won the top prize of $20,000, which represents a 2,000 per cent return on her buy-in, according to the poker site.

"No other site brings the level of excitement, skill and challenge that poker players crave," said Daniel Negreanu, who recently signed for Team PokerStars.

"The Sunday tournaments […] provide an unrivalled opportunity to prove your poker prowess with a lucrative prize pool that matches the highest level of competition."

Furthermore, the Sunday Hundred Grand has broken the attendance record for a single cash poker tournament every week since July 8th, the poker site stated.

PokerStars.com offers popular games such as Texas Hold'em, Omaha and Stud.
