The wife of a British comedian has won the inaugural PartyPoker Women's World Open in London, it has emerged.

Scooping $50,000, Bev Pace, who is married to funnyman Norman Pace, beat Jen Mason in a televised heads-up battle.

After a number of swings, Ms Pace's pocket sixes held-up all-in against Ms Mason's Ace Jack off suit.

"I'm very happy. This is my first big win and I intend to give myself a bankroll to play more tournaments for bigger stakes in the near future," she enthused.

"I was sixth in the Ladies European Championship in April and went to the World Series of Poker and Aussie Millions this year but haven't really cashed significantly."

Last week, Ladies International Poker Series announced it has teamed up with Card Player Media to bring poker coverage to female poker players across the US.

The coverage includes a poker section for women, featuring female tournament reporting, profiles, schedules and articles.
