2007-08-28 14:40:45

The World Poker Showdown (WPS) has signed a deal with a LA-based media syndication firm to air poker shows on television.

United Sports Media will produce and syndicate a number of poker events, the first of which will be the WPS Costa Rica Showdown in October, although it will not be broadcast until December.

The deal means that more than 100 million homes will be able to watch the tournament, which includes several No-Limit Hold'em events with various buy-ins.

"We are very pleased to have been chosen to produce and syndicate these events," said Rod Myers, United Sports Media president.

"I feel this will be a great partnership, and together, we can truly place all of the WPS events directly on the map as one of the great poker tournaments to play in."

Other tournaments will take place in the Bahamas, on a Caribbean poker cruise and in the Dominican Republic.

The Costa Rica tournament will take place at The Jazz Casino on Jaco Beach, to the south of San Jose.
