EPT to host 2007 tour in Italy

A poker tour is to be held in Italy next year and will be hosted by the European Poker Tour (EPT).
The first date of the tour will take place in San Remo but future dates have yet to be confirmed, said EPT organisers.
John Duthie, head of the EPT, said he was wary of adding too many dates to the tour, unless an opportunity came up that "was too good to pass".
He also said that while he is not personally in favor of increasing the buy-ins for the tour, this step had to be taken to reduce the size of the fields.
"We just don't have the room for bigger fields and we don't really want to add more day ones as seven-day tournaments are unpopular among players, so we really had no other option," he remarked.
EPT Barcelona is currently taking place and by day two the number of players had fallen from 543 to 204.
