World Series of Poker (WSoP) Europe has made its debut in London today at Leicester Square's Empire casino.
The first event is the £2,500 ($4,900) HORSE, which will last three days before giving way to the £5,000 Pot-Limit Omaha on Saturday.
Next Monday will see the launch of the six-day £10,000 No-Limit Hold'em championship, which will be spread out at the Empire, The Sportsman and Fifty casinos. All three clubs are operated by London Clubs International.
"This is the first time bracelet events will be awarded outside of Las Vegas," said Jeffrey Pollack, WSoP commissioner.
"We hope it becomes an annual tradition for poker enthusiasts and a home for WSoP fans after the action concludes in Las Vegas each summer."
Among the players expected to take part in WSoP Europe are Phil Ivey, Doyle Brunson, Phil Hellmuth, Erik Seidel and Jennifer Harman.
