23-event WCOOP kicks off Friday

PokerStars 2007 starts with the sixth World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) tomorrow (Friday September 14th).

First off is a $215 No-Limit Texas Hold'em, a game which will dominate the 23-event tournament until the end of the month.

According to the organisers, PokerStars has thrown a record $18.5 million of guaranteed prize money into the pot.

"If the preparations have not already begun in homes across the world, they are bound to happen soon," stated PokerStars.

"Every pantry should be stocked with provisions for two weeks. Every coffee maker should be ready for emergency use."

WCOOP is the largest tournament series held over the internet and is one of the biggest poker series in the world, both online or offline.
