Joe Hachem to appear at Seoul event

2007-09-21 15:02:33

Joe Hachem, champion of the 2005 World Series of Poker main event, has confirmed he will compete in the first professional poker tour in the Asia-Pacific region.

The star will travel to Seoul at the end of the month to take part in PokerStars' Asia Pacific Poker Tour (APPT).

Commenting on his career, he told the Korea Times: "The most significant change to my life since becoming world champion has been how I have been treated by everyone.

"People now come up to me and want to meet me, to talk and share a drink. This is something I never sought in the past."

The APPT will be held at the Paradise Seoul Casino between September 28th and 30th.

While the APPT is keen to promote Seoul as a "unique" poker tourism destination, the Korean government is less keen.

It has banned Korean nationals from playing at the tournament, which will not be televised.
