A Nottingham gambling club has been granted a license to operate as a poker club rather than as a casino.
The three-day court hearing included an inspection of Dusk Till Dawn by magistrates who were impressed with what they saw.
But it was acknowledged that had Dusk Till Dawn pressed for a full casino license, the club would have been turned down.
Club spokesman Adam O'Connell said: "The magistrate said that if we were applying for a casino licence then it would have been rejected.
"But because they liked what we were doing and because there was a demand for the type of poker club we were offering, they were willing to grant a licence as a poker-only venue."
This was the last case heard under the 1968 Gambling Act. It has now been replaced with the 2005 Gambling Act.
