Online poker first for Atlantic City casino

A casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey has become the first to offer online poker tournaments.

The service, which is provided by Trump Taj Mahal Casino Resort, enables players to visit a Ticketmaster-style website.

Once on the site, players can pick their tournament and reserve a place using their credit card.

There is a buy-in service fee of between three and six per cent and poker players can print out a ticket to present at the casino.

Fabricio Schaffrath, who invented the site, told The Press of Atlantic City: "To get in, you have to be there at least an hour and a half in advance."

The tallest manmade structure in New Jersey and one of the biggest casinos in the world, the Taj Mahal resort was opened in 1990 by business mogul Donald J Trump.
