Charity poker event to take place in Dublin

2007-10-02 15:46:44

Poker players and other keen gamblers will soon be raising money for the homeless in Ireland, it has been announced.

Last year, The Simon Poker Tour raised €50,000 ($71,000) and organizers hope to raise even more money for the homeless this year.

The charity event, which will take place in Dublin, will form part of the European Poker Tour, which is due to stop over in the Irish capital in November.

An event spokesman said: "It's a great opportunity for players to sit down [...] and play with some of the biggest names in the game without having to take out a bank loan."

Entry requires a buy-in of €300 + €30, with the first €100 going directly towards the Simon Dublin charity collection.

According to Launchpoker.com, snooker stars Steve Davis and Ken Doherty have already signed up to the event.
