Turbo poker "can be liberating"

2007-10-22 11:08:26

For cautious poker players, turbo poker may be a source of liberation, it has been argued.

In an article in UK newspaper the Guardian, Maxton Walker discussed the form of Texas Hold 'Em, which he used to help re-build his confidence.

After a stint in Portugal, where he apparently he had a bad time poker-wise, Mr Walker decided to embark on an online game of turbo poker because he felt in need of a holiday.

"In turbo games, an edge of recklessness is vital. For those of us who tend to be overcautious, it can be liberating," he said.

He also added that you tend to find weaker players in these kinds of low-stake online games and warned players that it is best to "sit back for the first couple of hands and let the kamikaze players self-destruct."

Some forms of turbo poker only allow five seconds for players to make decisions.
