US Pokerbowl won by Cincinnati

2007-10-24 16:21:50

The first ever US Pokerbowl has been won by the team from Cincinnati.

Vinny Napolitano took home the prize for his team, beating St Louis' Allen Kessler into second place.

Yesterday's final ended the three-day tournament in which 25 teams competed for a share of a $1 million prize fund.

Cincinatti's team won $600,000 after Napolitano's ace-king trumped Kessler's king-jack.

With two aces, a jack and two eights laid down on the table, Napolitano managed to make a full house.

Winner of the 1998 World Series of Poker event Scotty Nguyen finished in third place for team Detroit.

The four teams which won their conferences each received $100,000.

US Poker League who, which ran the event, claimed that it was the "first major national team tournament".

The event took place in Las Vegas.
