It is important for a poker player to be willing to fold with a pair of jacks, it has been argued.
Discussing World Series of Poker bracelet winner Lee Watkinson's actions when faced two jacks at a World Poker Tour event, Steve Rosenbloom mentioned the dangers of the hand.
Writing in the Chicago Tribune, he said that it was one of the most dangerous hands in poker.
"They are a big enough pocket pair to get you involved because they are almost a three-and-a-half to one favorite over two random cards," he said.
"But they can turn into trouble because more than half of the flops you'll see will include an overcard."
Some players dread receiving two jacks so much that somebody even founded a website called IHateJacks.com.
