Poker 'not a career' for student aces

Two student poker players, both of whom have made several hundred thousand pounds from playing poker online and in tournaments, have said that poker is not a career for them and that "it's basically a really fun hobby".

Chip Ferguson and Joey Michael, students at Northwestern, told their college newspaper that they plan to invest the money they have earned from the sport and that it is more a way of supplementing their income, as opposed to being the main source of it.

One poker player who wished to remain nameless said of his poker earnings: "It gives me the freedom to explore what I want to do.

"If I want to learn options trading, I already have money to start. It gives me a headstart on life."
