Upcoming WPT Five Diamond World Poker Classic

The 2007 World Poker Tour (WPT) Five Diamond World Poker Classic will begin on Tuesday November 27th at the world famous Bellagio Casino Resort in Las Vegas.

A big event on the casino calendar, the collection of tournaments will last until December 18th.

The Doyle Brunson Five Diamond World Poker Classic is the main event of the three-week gambling exhibition, beginning on December 13th.

Entry for that tournament is $300, with a $15,000 buy-in. Joseph Hachem won the last such event in 2006, winning $2,207,575.

Previous winners include Rehne Pedersen, Daniel Negreanu and Gus Hansen.

In the last big event on the WPT calendar, Mike Vela beat out Nick Schulman to win the World Poker Finals title, along with $1,704,986.

Monetarily the Five Diamond is the third most lucrative tournaments on the tour and a win there could put a player in good stead to be named player of the year.

When Negreanu won it, he went on to claim this accolade.
