Scotty Nguyen Poker Challenge won by Cloutier

2007-11-23 13:31:46

The Scotty Nguyen Poker Challenge has been won by top poker player TJ Cloutier, it has been reported.

A winner of six World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelets and joint holder of the record for most number of WSOP final table finishes (39), Cloutier is always going to be a danger in any tournament, as 123 players found out this week.

The final table featured host Scotty Nguyen - himself a four-time WSOP bracelet winner - and other notable players Gavin Smith and Bill Edler, according to Card Player.

Buy-in for the event was $5,000, which created a first-place prize of just over $240,000.

With the money, Cloutier's tournament winnings will now be somewhere around the $10 million mark.

It was the fourth edition of Nguyen's poker challenge, following on from the third event in June. Thang Pham won that tournament, taking home a smaller prize of just over $176,000.

The tournament took place at the Cherokee Casino in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
