Doyle Brunson Classic nears close

2007-12-17 13:54:12

The World Poker Tour (WPT) Doyle Brunson Classic is scheduled to finish today following five days of top class Hold 'Em action.

After four days, three-time WPT tournament winner Gus Hansen, three-time World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet winner Daniel Negreanu, fellow bracelet winner Dave Ulliott and Erick Lindgren were all still firmly in the competition - with Negreanu enjoying a big chip lead.

Card Player reported that ten of the 44 players left at that stage had all won WPT titles in the past.

The Doyle Brunson Classic is part of the Bellagio's Five Diamond World Poker Classic event which began on November 27th.

It is named after Doyle Brunson, one of the greatest poker players of all-time who has won ten WSOP bracelets, two WSOP main events back-to-back and a WPT title.

His son Todd is also a WSOP bracelet winner.
