The invited contestants for next year's National Heads-Up Poker Championship have been revealed this week.
Among the poker elite requested for the huge NBC event are reigning champion Paul Wasicka, two-time runner-up Chris Ferguson, last year's second-place Chad Brown and top players Barry Greenstein, Phil Ivey, Antonio Esfandiari and Doyle Brunson, according to Card Player.
Shannon Elizabeth, the American Pie actress, Jerry Yang and Jonathan Little have also been invited - Elizabeth for the strength of her play in this year's event and the other two for performing particularly well during 2007.
Phil Hellmuth Jr won the first ever event in 2005 but was eliminated in the first round the following year.
It was rumoured that he would be taking part in the 2008 event after missing out on last year's, however, the Card Player article makes no mention of his participation.
