JC Tran wins Poker Pages award

2008-01-08 11:50:02

The winner of 2007's World Poker Tour (WPT) World Poker Challenge tournament, JC Tran was not short of accolades last year. Now he can add another title to his collection, that of Poker Pages ProRank 1 Champion.

Finishing ahead of David Pham, the Vietnamese-born Tran won approximately $3 million last year, including a $1.17 million runner-up prize from the LA Poker Classic.

More WPT events put the 30-year old over the top and he was already named the player of the year for that particular organisation.

Poker Pages uses a points system to determine its player of the year rankings. Its result was different to that of Card Player magazine, which also uses a points system, but had Tran in second-place behind Pham.

Another difference between the two publication's rankings can be seen in the third-place position, which Card Player gave to Jonathan Little, while Poker Pages gave it to Bill Edler.
