Big players knocked out of World Poker Open early

2008-01-22 10:56:11

A number of big name poker players have been among the early casualties at the World Poker Tour's (WPT) World Poker Open.

Day 1B, which was held yesterday, saw quick eliminations of the likes of World Series of Poker (WSOP) main event winner Jerry Yang and five-time WSOP bracelet winner Phil Ivey, according to Card Player.

With so many top players in attendance, however, it is perhaps not surprising that some went home early.

Among those taking part were two-time WPT winner Erick Lindgren, six-time WSOP bracelet winner TJ Cloutier, Todd Brunson and Vanessa Rousso.

Chad Brown finished the day with the biggest chip stack with 112,325, while Bret Faustman followed on 107,700. Michael Postle was third with 84,600.

The next WPT event on the calendar is the Borgata Poker Classic, which will start on January 27th and finish on January 31st.
