World Poker Open boils down to 27

2008-01-23 14:48:47

The second official day of action at the World Poker Tour's (WPT) World Poker Open took place yesterday (January 22nd) and 116 players were eliminated.

Numerous big names had already been knocked out on days 1a and 1b, but most of the top stars left did well on day two and moved up the leaderboard, according to Card Player.

These include Erick Lindgren who led on 498,000 chips, Dutch Boyd who was second on 440,000, fourth-placed Freddy Deeb who had 324,000 and Men Nguyen, fifth with 323,000.

Barry Greenstein was also in the top ten.

Lindgren and Greenstein played small hands throughout the day, but some big wins later on handed Lindgren the lead.

Nguyen's fifth-place was secured through the use of aggressive "bullying" tactics.

None of the top ten players have won a WPT tournament this season, although Greenstein has made a final table appearance at the North American Poker Championship.
