The eyes of the poker world may be fixed upon the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa this week, but on the other side of the country a much bigger poker tournament has taken place - in terms of numbers that is.
Event four at the LA Poker Classic attracted 811 players, according to Card Player. This is 304 more than the number who entered the World Poker Tour event in Atlantic City.
The $300 no-limit hold'em rebuy had a pot of $688,000, with $158,000 going to the winner Bud Lavassani.
Following the conclusion of the Borgata Winter Poker Classic later this week, the World Poker Tour (WPT) will of course travel to the LA Poker Classic for its next leg, to be held on February 23rd.
Traditionally the LA event is one of the biggest for the WPT and the 2006 and 2007 editions have both set records for the largest prize money on the tour.
