JC Tran has been voted the best poker player of 2007 by a panel from All-In magazine.
A total of 19 people were asked to rank their top five players of the year and with 16 mentions - including five first-places - the Vietnamese-born Californian emerged the winner.
Tran was helped by a stunning start to the year, with three World Poker Tour (WPT) final tables, including one win and one second place.
His winnings from these tournaments alone totaled $2,028,793 and he scored more points than he had in the three previous WPT seasons combined.
"I had such a good start, everyone thought I was going to win player of the year in every publication, automatically. But I told everyone, You guys are wrong. It's not even close to being over'," he said to the magazine.
Tran, who won the WPT player of the year title, finished marginally ahead of Bill Edler in the All-In rankings, with David Pham coming third.
