LA Classic gets down to last 63

2008-02-26 09:52:19

There are just 63 players left in the World Poker Tour's (WPT) LA Poker Classic after a third day of action.

Former champion Antonio Esfandiari was one of the biggest names to go on day three, missing out on the money bubble by just two places, according to Card Player.

The LA main event began on Saturday and so far 602 participants have been eliminated. A further 45, or 36, players will be knocked out today (February 26th), depending on the pace of the action.

Kyle Burnside leads the chip count on 781,000, while five-time World Series of Poker bracelet winner Phil Ivey guns for his first ever WPT title in second.

Jennifer Tilly, David Singer and Yury Parad round out the top five.

This year's WPT tournament is significantly smaller than it was last year, with the $1.6 million jackpot far less than the $2.4 million winner's pot raised in 2007.
