2008-02-26 08:11:59

The LA Poker Classic championship event at the Commerce Casino resumed on the second day with around 430 remaining players starting with blinds of 200 to 400 with a 50 ante.

Players faced six levels of play on Sunday (February 24th) and a number of professionals, including 2006 World Poker Tour championship winner Carlos Mortensen, fell by the wayside at an early stage.

By the end of the second level fewer than 300 players were still standing and by the end of the night only 136 were left, reports CardPlayer.com.

Mickey 'Mouse' Mills was the first of many players to cross the 200,000 mark after flopping quad fives, hitting a full house with 7-5 before picking up more chips before the evening dinner break.

The top chip leaders at the end of play on day two include Daniel Fuhs (397,100), Kyle Burnside (279,700), Phil Ivey (279,000), Antonio Esfandiari (245,000) and Blair Hinkle (224,000).

In related news, Antonio 'The Magician' Esfandiari has been named as the new face of the World Poker Tour, which is running the LA Poker Classic championships.
