Ivey extends his lead at LA Poker Classic

2008-02-28 09:01:38

Five-time World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet holder Phil Ivey has moved even further away from the field at the World Poker Tour's (WPT) 2008 LA Poker Classic.

Leading after day four by just by just 2,000 chips, he extended the margin between him and his nearest rival to almost 1.5 million, according to Card Player.

Scott Montgomery is the man in second place, followed by 11-time WSOP bracelet winner Phil Hellmuth, Charles Moore, Quin Do and former WPT titlist Nam Le.

Ivey has 4.1 million chips in total, with only Montgomery and Hellmuth having stacks greater than two million.

Wei Kai Chang took the unwanted position of seventh, missing out on the final table and the chance to make millions of dollars. His consolation prize is $172,370.

Ivey has never won a WPT title despite making numerous final tables, but if he maintains his current form, this tournament could be his first.
