Van Nguyen wins first WPT title

If asked which member of the Nguyen family would be first to win a World Poker Tour (WPT) title, most would likely have said Men or Minh - or even cousin David Pham.

But Men's wife Van Nguyen has beaten them all to it, as well as every female poker player, by taking down the WPT Celebrity Invitational tournament this week.

Van beat Ethan Ruby in the heads-up to take home a check for $100,000, as well as a $25,000 seat at the WPT Championship event, Card Player reports.

Billy Bazter, Justing Marchand and Elias Madias all made the final table out of the starting field of 445.

It was the sixth such competition to have taken place and Los Angeles's Commerce Casino played host to the large number of poker professionals and celebrities.

Don Cheadle, Ricki Lake and James Woods were among the famous faces taking part.
