Gus Hansen has admitted he was pleased when it was announced he would be taking on Don Cheadle in the opening round of last week's National Heads-Up Poker Championship.
Saying that it is always good to get a non-professional player who is clearly not one of the tournament favourites in his Card Player blog, the Dane nevertheless said it was fun playing the Hotel Rwanda star who is "an all-together cool guy".
Hansen followed up his win against Cheadle with some excellent victories over two of the world's best players - Scotty Nguyan and Phil Laak.
Unfortunately for him, however, he walked into Phil Ivey in the quarter finals and was no match for the man who had just picked up the LA Poker Classic title.
"For the first time in three years I was able to advance from the first round. This was going to be my year," he predicted after the Cheadle match.
"[But] the quarterfinals was as far as I got and I ended up leaving Caesar's Palace very disappointed."
