Poker players who are eligible to cast a vote in the American presidential elections do not have a great deal of information at their disposal on candidates' stance on the game.
This is according to the Poker Players' Alliance (PPA), which has put together a summary for members to highlight politicians' position on poker.
It warns that an "educated judgement" is not possible when looking purely at how a politician voted on the Unlawful Internet Gaming Enforcement Act (UIGEA), as all candidates were not present when it passed through Congress.
Both Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama, the Democratic frontrunners, support the poker industry's position that internet gambling and its potential fair regulation should be investigated, according to a Las Vegas Sun article cited by the PPA.
Meanwhile, Republican candidate John McCain is believed to not have a specific stance on the issue of internet poker.
The PPA claims Mr McCain "has always been willing to consider both sides of an issue" and it encourages poker players to get in touch with his campaign - as well as the campaigns of other candidates - to establish their viewpoint.
"Please let them know you are an undecided voter and a proud poker player when you contact the campaign, so we can illustrate the grassroots strength behind the great game of poker," the PPA adds.
A not-for-profit organisation, the PPA claims to represent the interests of poker players and enthusiasts from all over the USA.
