World Poker Challenge coming up next week

2008-03-19 14:58:00

The next World Poker Tour (WPT) event takes place next week between Tuesday March 25th and March 28th at the Grand Sierra Resort Casino in Reno.

JC Tran won 2007's event, picking up $683,473 - one of the smallest winner's checks of the tour.

Despite the challenge traditionally being a minor WPT leg, it still attracts as a host of the world's top players. Last year's final table featured David Pham, Danny Won, Mark Seif, John Hom and Juan Carlos Alvarado, as well as Tran.

Brandon Cantu is the player heading into the event with form on his side, having taken down the Bay 101 Shoot Star WPT championship last week.

The likes of Phil Hellmuth, Nam Le and Billy Baxter may also be on hand trying to improve on recent WPT finishes, which have seen them fall at the final table stage.
