Wynn Classic won by Chris Moore

2008-03-20 11:33:38

The 2008 Wynn Classic, one of the biggest non-World Poker Tour events on the card playing calendar, has been won by a player from Chicago.

Chris Moore, who has never won a major tournament before, survived four days of highly competitive poker before beating Ryan Young to take the trophy and the $692,286 winner's check.

Moore was in third place heading into the nine-man final table and actually entered the heads-up with a chip deficit, according to Card Player

Nevertheless, he was able to overcome the odds and go two better than he did in last year's event, where he finished in third place.

The win puts Moore in 45th position in Card Player's player of the year rankings and takes his career live tournament winnings to almost $1 million.

Young received $355,020 for being the runner-up, while Blair Cahail won $177,510 for coming third.
