POY rankings on verge of shake up

2008-03-28 16:02:43

Card Player's player of the year rankings could be about to undergo their biggest shake-up since the start of the year as the World Poker Tour (WPT) World Poker Challenge event concludes today.

Phil Ivey, who lies in second place in the prestigious list, will likely go into the lead following his ninth place finish in the competition yesterday. Ivey is currently just 310 points behind Michael McDonald and once the sums are added up, he could have enough to go into the lead.

David Pham is another player with a big shout of going top. He is 850 points behind McDonald on 2,070, however, a win at the WPT tournament could give him the points he needs to go first.

The reigning player of year from 2007 is in a decent position at the event, currently coming fourth in terms of chips with just the final table left to be played.
