Markholt wins first WPT trophy

Lee Markholt has lifted his first World Poker Tour (WPT) title following victory at the World Poker Challenge over the weekend.
The Washington-resident beat off a strong final table featuring the likes of David Pham to emerge the winner. He received a check for $493,815 and a seat at the WPT championship tournament in April.
Bryan Devonshire was the runner-up, losing a rapid heads-up in less than three hands. He won $271,625 for finishing second.
Zachary Hyman finished third, with Jason Potter fourth, Pham fifth and Jeff DeWitt sixth.
The victory was welcomed by WPT titlist Roy Winston, who said he was rooting for both Markholt and Hyman in his Card Player blog.
"I was very happy to see Lee Markholt pull out the victory last night for his first WPT title," he remarked.
"It is well deserved. I have a feeling we will be seeing him at more final tables."
