Only nine players remain from the 346 who started the World Poker Tour's (WPT's) Foxwoods Poker Classic at the weekend.
Day four of the event saw last year's winner Raj Patel eliminated in ninth place, while Eddie Ting and Paul Stead - who were both in the top five after day three - were also knocked out of the competition.
California's Erik Seidel currently leads and will be wanting to add a WPT trophy to his impressive career haul, which includes eight World Series of Poker (WSOP) titles.
His 2,472,000 chip total puts him marginally ahead of Adam Katz with 2,190,000, who is closely followed by Ted Forrest on 1,682,000.
Forrest is a five-time WSOP bracelet holder and will pick up his second WPT title should he win this tournament.
Seidel has the best form out of anyone in the field this year, however, currently lying in 22nd in Card Player's player of the year race.
