Seidel leads the way ahead of Foxwoods final table

2008-04-09 14:22:33

Erik Seidel has extended his lead at the World Poker Tour (WPT) Foxwoods Poker Classic with just the final table left to play.

Only nine players remained on day five and Seidel never looked in danger of relinquishing his lead, boosting his chip count to 3,280,000 while Michael Farris, Allen Bari and Natale Kuey were eliminated.

Perhaps the player Seidel will be most concerned about in the last six is Ted Forrest, the five-time World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet winner and WPT titlist, who moved up to second place ahead of Adam Katz.

These three players are in by far the strongest position to win the championship, with Andrew Barta lagging behind on 1,522,000 chips and Robert Richardson and Frank Cieri approximately a further million behind.

Seidel has never won a WPT event and will be hoping he can add the title to his impressive career collection, which includes eight WSOP bracelets.
