American Michael Binger has taken his career live tournament winnings another step closer to $6 million with a win at the Five-Star World Poker Classic event 13.
Binger, who was on home turf at the Bellagio, beat Bruno Fitoussi in heads-up play and added the $5,000 buy-in title to his growing list of accolades from 2008, which include an LA Poker Classic victory.
The Las Vegas resident received $337,220 and will likely enter the top ten of Card Player's player of the year rankings, having already been in 11th position before the tournament.
Binger's other achievements this season include reaching the final table at two Aussie Millions events and making the money bubble at the Foxwoods Poker Classic and World Poker Challenge.
Shannon Shorr, who was the overnight chip leader, expressed in his blog that he was not entirely happy about finishing third as he always wants to win.
He had previously called the competition for the event 13 title "ridiculously tough".
