Vahedi surpasses Hansen at WPT Championship

Amir Vahedi moved in to the lead on Wednesday as the World Poker Tour (WPT) Championship gears up for its penultimate day of action.
Vahedi enjoys a significant advantage over Tuesday's number one Gus Hansen, with his provisional count of 3,907,000 being almost one million more than the Great Dane's 2,929,000.
One of poker's rising stars Tom Dwan lies in third with 2,874,000, after moving up from sixth place on day four.
He is followed by David Tran and Jeff King, who round out the top five.
Only 17 players remain in the competition, with last year's champion Carlos Mortensen, TJ Cloutier, JC Tran, Men Nguyen and Tom Schneider among the notable losers.
Still in with a chance of winning are Premier League Poker titlist Andy Black and Jeff Shulman, the editor of Card Player magazine.
A further 11 contestants will be knocked out today to leave a final table of six, with each of the finalists guaranteed a prize of at least $263,815.
