Baron suffers OPOY setback

2008-05-08 16:07:57

Isaac "westmenloAA" Baron's attempt to move himself back up Card Player's online player of the year (OPOY) rankings took a hit this week when he was passed by OnlyPlayRagz.

After a good start to the year the reigning champion suffered almost three months without a points win and dropped out of the top ten.

Last week he looked to be moving back into contention after scoring in two separate tournaments, but OnlyPlayRagz has now pushed him down to 16th after earning 200 points on Monday.

The anonymous player's fifth place finish was enough to win him $24,920 and move him nearer to the OPOY top ten in 15th.

Baron's new position is also under threat from Joshua "pbdrunks" VanDuyn who currently lies 18th.

The online professional has been in good form of late and is only 50 points behind westmenloAA after taking 218 points in less than two weeks.

Baron's mid-season drought was mainly down to him concentrating on live tournament poker, where he managed to make the last eight of the European Poker Tour Grand Final.
