Cunningham and Ivey among Negreanu's WSOP picks

2008-05-19 15:43:04

Allen Cunningham and Phil Ivey have been backed to do well at this year's World Series of Poker (WSOP) by Daniel Negreanu.

The two players, who are third and sixth on the all-time live tournament earnings table respectively, have been included in a list of ten people predicted to have a strong WSOP in Negreanu's Full Contact Poker blog.

Other stars of the game to get a mention are Mike Matusow, John Hennigan, David Chiu, Ted Forrest, Barry Greenstein, John Juanda, Scotty Nguyen and Negreanu himself.

Perhaps the most notable person not to make the list is Erik Seidel.

The Las Vegas resident has had a fantastic year so far and leads Card Player's player of the year rankings after winning his first World Poker Tour title.

He also has great WSOP pedigree, having won eight bracelets in the past and finished runner-up at the 1988 main event.

Negreanu chose the ten ahead of the Full Contact Poker WSOP pool, which will attribute players a certain number of points depending on where they finish in the championship events this summer.
