If there was any doubt about how important the World Series of Poker is to young card players, it has been completely dispelled this week by one rising star of the circuit.
Isaac Haxton, who finished in the money three times at the competition last year, has chosen to be in Las Vegas for event one instead of attending his university graduation ceremony.
Making the revelation in his Card Player blog, Haxton remarked: "I'm skipping the graduation ceremony so I can be out in Vegas in time for event one of the WSOP."
He suggested that had his parents wanted him to go to the graduation ceremony the decision may have been more difficult, but "luckily" they did not mind.
Haxton explained he hopes to play every day over the two-month period and will no doubt be wanting to improve on last year's success, which saw him earn well over $150,000 in total.
