Hawkins knocked off OPOY top spot

2008-05-20 16:08:12

Brian Hawkins has dropped down from first place to third in Card Player's online player of the year rankings.

The online professional, known best as SNo0oWMAN, failed to score any points last week and as such has been overtaken by Halfrek and Isaac "westmenloAA" Baron.

Halfrek surged into first when he scored 1,200 points for taking down a big tournament over the weekend.

He now has a significant lead at the top with 3,992 - more than 3,000 of which has been earned so far this month.

Baron trails him on 3,546 - a ten-point advantage over Hawkins, who he overtook with an 18-point score on Sunday.

Should Halfrek continue his form, he will be on track to be the first internet player to earn over $1 million in tournament prize money this year.

His current winnings total $936,350, which is almost $450,000 more than his nearest rival Keith "delegator" Lehr and double the amount made by everyone else.
