Poker climbs up search term rankings

2008-05-20 16:16:50

Poker has risen to 34th in Lycos's list of most commonly used internet search terms.

The card game moved up from 40th position at the start of last week and now sits behind Jessica Simpson in 33rd.

Poker has been a constant word in the list for four weeks now and sits ahead of Anna Nicole Smith, Wikipedia, Runescape, Jennifer Lopez and Shakira.

YouTube currently tops the table, with Jessica Alba, Mariah Carey, Clay Aiken and Paris Hilton rounding out the top five.

Poker's move up the rankings could be due to the upcoming World Series of Poker - the sport's premier event - which begins in less than two weeks time.

The NBA has already moved up as high as 22nd in the table on the back of the playoff finals, so it is possible when the two-month long card playing event gets underway at the end of May, poker could follow suit.
