WSOP cause POY changes

Before the World Series of Poker (WSOP) got underway at the end of last month, Card Player magazine predicted that its player of the year (POY) rankings could be about to change.
Less than two weeks after the tournaments began, that forecast is coming true.
While Erik Seidel is still in first place on 3,700 points, Michael Binger is now close behind with 3,400.
Binger already lay in the runner-up spot prior to the poker extravaganza starting in Las Vegas, but a seventh place in event five has put him within touching distance of the leader.
Brandon Cantu has also made progress inside the top ten, moving into fifth place on 2,889 on the back of a final table appearance of his own.
Meanwhile Erick Lindgren, who won a WSOP bracelet last week, is up to 12th, less than 1,000 points behind Binger.
Justin Bonomo is in 14th with 2,408, with another bracelet winner Nenad Medic behind him in 19th.
