Fernandez leads WSOP POY competition

Jacobo Fernandez leads the World Series of Poker's (WSOP's) player of the year (POY) rankings following the latest points update over the weekend.
The Florida resident has accrued 222 points from his five cash finishes, which puts him two ahead of David Benyamine in second.
Fernandez has also risen to ninth in Card Player's POY competition on the strength of his three WSOP final table positions. He has yet to win a WSOP bracelet, but has managed to come second, third and fourth this year.
Erick Lindgren and Barry Greenstein tie for third in the WSOP race, ahead of Daniel Negreanu, Vanessa Selbst and Chris Ferguson - who is 19th for 2008 with Card Player.
David Singer, Mike Matusow and Farzad Rouhani round out the top ten.
Card Player's top three professionals Erik Seidel, Michael Binger and David Chiu do not rank inside the top 15 for the 2008 WSOP.
