Woo snags first WSOP bracelet

2008-06-24 15:07:33

David Woo is the latest player to win his first World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet this year.

The Atlanta, Georgia resident took down event 39, a $1,500 no-limit hold'em tournament, last night to earn himself $631,656.

Matthew Wood was his victim in the heads-up. He felt that his nine-six would be good enough to win the final hand of the competition on a board featuring nine, five, four and went all-in.

Woo called with a pair of tens and queen and a four ensured that Wood went to rail.

Eric Beren came third, followed by Thom Werthmann, Curtis Early and Habib Khanis.

Thanh Dat Tran, Mike Glass and James Paras took up the remaining three places.

In other WSOP news, John Phan will be going for his second bracelet of the year tonight in event 40.

The Razor is second in the chip count as he looks to become the first multiple title winner of this year's WSOP.
