Online poker players 'not always at a disadvantage'

Despite often being looked down upon by live poker players, internet competitors do have advantages in some 'real life' events, an expert has suggested.
Sorel Mizzi, who made his name in internet circles but is now enjoying success in the live tournament arena as well, told Card Player magazine that because of the aggressive nature of online poker, web contestants are better suited to six-handed competitions.
"In a six-handed tournament, any sort of aggression is going to be favoured over any sort of passive play."
Explaining how this suits an internet pro, he remarked: "One thing online players are best at is pre-flop aggression and knowing when to re-raise pre-flop."
It takes different skills to be successful in the real and virtual poker worlds, with experts generally saying that online accomplishment is much more down to knowing the odds than it is in the live format.
Few very successful internet players have managed to convert their abilities into taking down major live poker tournaments.
