Seidel falls short at WSOP final table

Erik Seidel was unsuccessful in his attempt to secure the ninth World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet of his career last night.
The Las Vegas resident was thwarted at the final table for the second time this year, eventually going home in fourth in event 43, a pot-limit Omaha hi-low split-eight or better competition.
Seidel was the big favourite going into the last day against a relatively inexperienced group of players.
He had the second largest collection of chips and took an early lead, but failed to hold on to it, as Martin Klaser amassed a stack large enough to bring him victory.
Klaser beat Casey Kastle in heads-up play, with Michael Fetter finishing third.
Jon Maren went out in fifth, ahead of Chad Burum, Joseph Haddad, Larry Wright and Tom Chambers.
For his win, Klaser received $216,249. Had Seidel been first, he would have moved even closer to the $10 million career earnings mark, which only five people have ever achieved.
