James Schaaf denied Phil Hellmuth his 12th World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet last night by winning event 51 of the summer.
The relatively unheralded player took down the $1,500 HORSE tournament, beating Tommy Hang into second and leaving the Poker Brat in third.
Hellmuth had finished days one and two as the chip leader, but could not manage the same feat again yesterday evening.
He was looking to extend his lead over Johnny Chan and Doyle Brunson in the bracelet count to two.
Esther Rossi was fourth, making her one of the most successful women players at this year's WSOP.
She was followed by Jason Dollinger, Sam Silverman, Victor Ramdin, Matt Grapenthien and Edward Brogdon.
Hellmuth has never won a WSOP bracelet in a non-Texas hold'em event, so the result will no doubt boost his already legendary confidence even further.
The last time he did so well outside of Texas hold'em was in 2003.
