2008-07-03 15:44:01

The 53rd event of the 2008 World Series of Poker (WSOP) has come to an end.

Jean-Robert Bellande was looking to join the host of big names players to win his first WSOP bracelet, but was denied in the heads-up by Matt Graham, Poker News reports.

Graham will be the last person to be crowned a WSOP champion until November, when the final table of the main event will be played.

His victory came when he called Bellande's nine-seven all-in with ace-jack.

The board came out four, three, king, king, queen, which was no help to Bellande and sent him home in second place.

For his win, Graham earned the biggest winner's cheque of his career, worth $278,180.

In third place was Joe De Niro, who managed to outlast Brandon Wong and Danny Wong in fourth and fifth.

Spencer Lawrence finished in sixth, ahead of John Kranyak, Andrew Prock and Mike Kachan.
